The regular meeting of the Town of Arland was called to order by Supervisor Robert Nelson on August 7, 2014 at 8 PM. Minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Clerk Fall. Motion by Nelson, second by Brad Wolf to approve. Motion carried. Treasurer Jodene Nelson gave a financial update. Motion to accept by Wolf, second by Nelson. Motion carried.
Phillip Hoff was introduced as the new full time patrol operator for the Town of Arland. His efffective start date was August 1st. Phillip will be under direct supervision of Supervisor Nelson and will report to the board on a monthly basis. Clerk Fall presented the contact for Mr. Hoff. After review and discussion, a motion was made by Nelson, second by Wolf to approve the proposed contract. Motion carried. All members of the board signed the contract as well as Mr. Hoff.
Phillip gave an update on the highway maintenance that he had been working on; ditch mowing and sign maintenance.
Sharon Masek from Superior Silica Sands gave an update on the work that is being done at both wet plants and the construction of the dry plant. She also announced the purchase of Midwest Frac mining property from Matt Torgerson by SSS. They will continue the operation and are in the process of road maintenance and excavating at the mine site on 7th St. This mine will be referred to as the “Church Road Mine”. Sharon discussed the need to complete a Developers Agreement for this mine site. She also discussed the blasting plans for the LP mine. Neighbors that are immediately affected will receive notification of blasting plans on a 24-hr. basis. The dry plant is under construction with hopes to be completed by November 1st.
No report from Greg’s Excavating – bill was presented for final work.
