The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff. Board members present; Chuck Richards, Jodene Nelson, Maynard Hoff and Pam Fall. Brad Wolf was absent.
Clerk Fall presented the minutes from the November meeting. Motion was made by Chuck Richards to approve second by Maynard Hoff. Motion carried.
Jodene Nelson Treasurer gave a financial update. She noted a current balance in the general checking account of $459,978.84. also balance in the saving is $39,680 and CD balance of $313,240. This CD will mature on January 7, 2022. Motion was made by Maynard Hoff, second by Chuck Richards to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.. Board discussed the renewal of the CD. After discussion, motion was made and seconded to renew the CD for another 1 year term at its maturity. A second investment was approved prior to the end of 2021 for $200,000for a 6 month term.
Phil gave a highway report. He reported several hours on snow removal after the storm on Friday, Dec 10th. He also discussed a concern for property owners that push their driveway snow across the town road, This will be addressed with a notice or letter. Phil also discussed the issues currently wit the furnace, Wohlk was contacted to look at the furnace, noting that there are concerns but was able to repair currently. A smart thermostat was recommended for the hall which would alert Phil to any temperature drops. Chuck will look into the options for a security system.
