The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff, on December 11, 2017 at 7:00 PM with all board members present.  The minutes of the November meetings were presented by Clerk Fall.  Motion to approve all, was made by Robert Nelson, followed by a second by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.Treasurer, Jodene Nelson gave the financial update.  Discussion was given to the reinvestment of 2 maturing CDs at the Sterling Bank.  Consensus by board was to allow these investments to each renew for another 6 month term.  Clerk Fall and Treasurer Nelson were authorized to create a new investment with the Sterling Bank for the 2017 Machinery Fund contribution-12 month term.  Motion was made by Maynard Hoff and second by Brad Wolf to accept the Treasurer’s update and approve the investments.  motion carried.  Board also discussed the matter of the personal property taxes on the Weston Toews property.  Motion was made by Maynard Hoff, second by Brad Wolf…to charge them for only 50% of the taxes due – January to June 30th, at which time they moved.  Motion carried.

Phil Hoff gave the highway maintenance and equipment updates.  Board discussed the charge for service to residents for sanding driveways or yards be increased.  New rates effective January 1, 2018 would be $25.00 for small jobs,- $50.00 for large driveway/yards.   Motion to approve the increase was made by Robert Nelson, second by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.

Superior Sands Update was given by Sharon Masek, noting that the mines were currently shutdown.  She informed the board that the plans are underway to continue project on 7 1/2 St.  Project is scheduled to be completed in 2019.

No public comment was given.

Chairman Hoff indicated that he has applied for TRIP funds.  More information would be provided at future meetings.

Bills were presented for payment.  Discussion followed.  Motion to approve all for payment was made by Brad Wolf, second by Robert Nelson.  Motion carried.

Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

Clerk Fall gave updates on election dates for 2018.

No correspondence was presented.
