1407-July08,2014

The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman Maynard Hoff on Tuesday, July 08, 2014 at 8:00 PM.  All board members were present along with several residents and guests.

The minutes of the previous meetings were presented by Clerk Fall.  Motion to approve by Brad Wolf/second by Robert Nelson.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Jodene Nelson gave a financial update.  Motion to accept by Nelson/Hoff.  Motion carried.

Highway maintenance discussion was led by Chairman Hoff.  Greg Rayment gave an update on the work that was being done by his Greg’s Excavating crew, which included blading, tree cutting and ditch mowing.  They will continue with maintenance as needed on the town roads.  Some discussion was given to replacing signs as well.  The Town of Arland will go forward with the work on 8th St. and 10th Ave.

Sharon Masek from Superior Silica Sands gave her update on the current work being done at the new dry plant location as well as the wet plant and mining sites at LP and FLS.  Everything is going well, need more dry weather to keep on target.  They continue to repair and work on 7th Ave. as well as the plans for 8th Ave. repair.

Matt Torgerson from Midwest Frac gave his update on the work going on at his site on 7th St.  Satisfied with the mining that has been done and reported that the Middendorp buildings had been removed.

No public comment.

Bills were presented for review.  Motion to approve for payment by Nelson/Wolf.  Motion carried.

Next meeting is scheduled for August 7th at 8:00 PM.

Reminder that there is a partisan primary election on August 12th.

Discussed making new keys for the hall.  Brad will look into this.

Motion to go into closed session pursuant to WI Statutes 1985(1)(c) for the purpose of reviewing applications and considering employment of a full-time Patrol Operator position by Wolf/Hoff.  Roll call results:  Hoff-yes, Wolf-yes, Nelson-yes.  Closed session to include Jodene Nelson, Dale Degerman, Pam Fall and Todd Huset.  Motion carried.

Board returned to open session by a motion from Nelson/Hoff.  Motion carried.

Motion made by Wolf/Nelson to offer the full-time position to Phillip Hoff, noting that his direct supervisor would be Robert Nelson.  Roll call result:  Nelson-yes, Wolf-yes, Hoff-abstained.  Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn by Nelson/Wolf.  Motion carried.
