The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman Maynard Hoff on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 8 PM. All board members were present. Also present were Vic Keller and three residents. Audits of the financial records for the Treasurer and Clerk were completed by the board. All items were found in order and books were signed by the board.
Minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Clerk Fall. Motion by Maynard Hoff, second by Dale Degerman to approve, motion carried. Treasurer Jodene Nelson gave a financial update. Motion by Degerman, second by Robert Nelson to accept, motion carried.
No public comments were made.
Vic Keller gave an update on highway maintenance, noting that the new plow works well. He informed the board that he was invited to an Open Pit Mining School, to be held at the Almena Town Hall. This is a mandatory meeting put on by the State of Wisconsin.
Hoff informed the board that the Prairie Farm School District is interested in purchasing one of our extra plows. Discussion followed. Motion was made by Robert Nelson, with a second by Dale Degerman to sell one of the extra plows to the PF School District for $500. Motion carried. The school district will be notified and will be asked to contact Vic Keller to work out the details for them to pick it up. Payment can be sent to Chairman Hoff or Treasurer Nelson.
The board discussed Vic Keller’s 2010 employment contract. Vic was satisfied with the details as proposed, noting the pay schedule for 2010 and benefits. Motion by Maynard Hoff, second by Robert Nelson to approve. Motion carried.
The contract for Robert Irwin, Town Assessor was presented by Clerk Fall. Discussion followed, noting the proposed revaluation plan for 2010. Irwin has agreed to spread the increased assessment costs over the next three years. Motion by Robert Nelson, second by Dale Degerman to approve. Motion carried.
Bills were presented for payment. Motion and second to approve. Motion carried.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 8, 2010 at 8 PM. Meeting was adjourned.
