The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM will all board members present. Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by a motion to approve by Robert Nelson, second by Brad Wolf. Motion carried. Treasurer, Jodene Nelson presented the financial update, followed by a motion to accept by Brad Wolf, second by Robert Nelson. Motion carried.
Highway report was given by Phil Hoff. He discussed the work being scheuled for crack sealing and culvert replacement. He discussed benefits with crack and scrub sealing and will be presenting quotes on this work at the next meeting.
Phil discussed the quotes he has received on a new grader. Two quotes were presented. Board reviewed the two presented; 2017 JD and 2018 Cat. Discussion followed on availability and warranties. Motion was made to purchase the JD 2017 Grader at $225,500. by Brad Wolf. Second was made by Robert Nelson. Motion carried. Completion of the paperwork and purchase will be presented at the next meeting.
Maynard discussed the Almena Fire Board meeting – reviewed that Town of Arland had the most fire calls,
Superior Silica Sands report was given by Sharon Masek – noting the activity at each of the mines – train availability – signage for road closures – general updates.
Bills were presented for payment. Motion to approve all for payment by Maynard Hoff, second by Robert Nelson. Motion carried.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 11, 2018 at 7:00 PM — following the Board of Review which is scheduled for 5 – 7 PM.
