1004-Apr.13,2010

The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman Maynard Hoff at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Maynard Hoff residence (maple syrup shed).  All board members were present, along with Vic Keller and several residents.

Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the previous meeting.  Motion by Degerman, second by Nelson to approve.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Jodene Nelson presented a financial update.  Motion by Hoff, second by Degerman to approve.  Motion carried.  Nelson noted that a CD will be due at the Johnson Bank.  She gave rates from three banks for consideration.  Motion by Nelson, second by Degerman to keep the CD at the Johnson Bank, and renew it at a nine or twelve month term at the best rate possible.  Motion carried.

Two bids were presented in response to the ad placed for the TRIP project.  Monarch Paving and Barron County Highway presented bids.  Monarch Paving bid for the project located on 12th St. was $35,471.60 (not including gravel), assuming the Town of Arland would furnish gravel for the project.  Barron County bid was $39,530.00, gravel included.  After discussion, a motion was made by Degerman and seconded by Hoff to accept the bid from Monarch.  Motion carried.  The rep from Monarch said some work could begin soon, with completion scheduled for fall.  Because of the issue of furnishing gravel, Maynard will consult with the county highway commissioner on this option, as well as having Vic Keller do any of the work along with clarification on the prevailing wage requirements.

Road bans are now lifted.  No burning allowed until May 15th.

Bills were presented for consideration.  Motion by Hoff, second by Degerman to approve for payment.  Motion carried.

Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 06, 2010 at the Town Hall.  Clerk will contact Assessor Bob Irwin to determine his plans for Board of Review and completion of the re-evaluation.

Motion and second for adjournment.  Carried.

Pamela Y. Fall, Clerk
