The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 8 PM. All board members were present. Minutes of the September meeting were presented by Clerk Fall. Motion by Dale Degerman, second by Robert Nelson to approve. Motion carried. Treasurer Nelson presented a financial update, noting balances in all accounts. Motion by Nelson, second by Degerman to accept report. Motion carried.
Jason Bruder, town patrol operator, presented an update on highway maintenance. Board discussed the potential need for new tires on the grader. More information will be presented at the next meeting for consideration. Crack sealing has been contracted and should be done soon. Board also discussed the potential purchase of a small truck for town use. This could reduce the use of big equipment when the job would allow use of a pickup. More information amd discussion will be shared at future meetings.
Reminder that the 90-day review for Jason should be conducted at the next meeting in November. We will discuss other benefits, including health insurance, at that time. Jason will set up an IRA for contributions from the town, as well as get insurance quotes for consideration.
The budget hearing and special meeting to set the levy will be held on November 9, 2010 immediately following the regular meeting which is scheduled for 8 PM at the town hall.
Caucus was set for January 6, 2011. This will be for all town positions, to be on the spring election ballot.
Bills were presented for review. Motion by Degerman, second by Maynard Hoff to pay as presented. Motion carried.
