The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff, with all board members present. Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by a motion to approve by Brad Wolf, second by Maynard Hoff. Motion carried. Treasurer, Jodene Nelson gave the financial update, followed by a motion to accept by Brad Wolf, second by Maynard Hoff. Motion carried. Machinery fund for EOY 2017 is $602,895.00. She gave an update on tax collection, with outstanding balance due from Tim Vilz; approx $860.00 for last 3 years combined.
Phil Hoff gave the update on highway maintenance and equipment repairs. Board will discuss further equipment needs at the next meeting.
Sharon Masek gave the Superior Silica Sands report, along with maps and discussion on the 2018 mining plans. She expressed concern with rail access and potential alternative trucking routes and times.
No public comment was given.
Bills were presented for payment. Discussion followed. Motion to approve all for payment was made by Brad Wolf, second by Robert Nelson. Motion carried.
Next meeting will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 7:00 PM. The financial audit will be conducted at 6;30 PM.
Report on the Almena Fire Dept special meeting; The new Assistant Chief is Dave Whitman.
Board members signed up for the annual WTA meeting at Cumberland on March 10th.
