The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff on August 18, 2015 at 8 PM.  All board members were present, plus 4 residents.  Minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Clerk Fall, with a motion to approve by Wolf, second by Nelson.   Motion carried.   Treasurer, Jodene Nelson gave the financial update, with a motion following by Wolf, second by Nelson to accept.  Motion carried.  She noted our balance in the general fund was currently at $671,568.36.  This balance reflects up to date royalties from Superior Silica Sands.  Total year to date royalties from SSS are $374,962.02.

Phil Hoff gave an update on highway maintenance, discussing the culverts to be replaced and water damage from previous 2 weeks hard rains.  Blacktopping is scheduled to be done on 10th Ave in the next week.  Robert Nelson gave an update on discussion with the DNR regarding bridge repair/replacement in Dority Creek are-near Olsons.  Barron County Highway will plan to do the work yet this fall, which will save a considerable amount of money if replacement is done with culverts.  Maynard Hoff presented the bridge inspection report from Barron County.  Some maintenance is required.

Board also considered the purchase of equipment.  Discussion followed.  Robert Nelson made a motion to authorize Maynard to offer a bid to the County up to $80,000 for a 2004 Peterbuilt Truck.  Motion was seconded by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.  More information and bids will be presented at the next regular meeting for consideration of a new mower/tractor.

Bills were presented for payment.  Discussion followed.  Motion to approve all for payment by Maynard, second by Brad.  Motion carried

Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 8 PM.

Sharon Masek from Superior Silica Sands was present to discuss the current operations at wet plants and dry mine in Arland Township.  She also reported that she had given many tours during the recent Threshermens Bee near Turtle Lake.  Visitors were impressed with the operations and the reclamation done at the FLS Mine.

Motion and second was made to adjourn.  Motion carried.
