2106-June10,2021

The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff, with all members present at 6:30 PM on Thursday, June 10, 2021.  Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by a motion by Chuck Richards and second by Brad Wolf to approve.  Motion carried.  Treasurer, Jodene Nelson presented the financial update, noting a balance in the general checking account of $209,669.30, with two CDs currently totaling approximately $565,000.  One CD is due on June 30, 3032.  Motion was made to accept the financial report by Brad Wolf second by Chuck Richards.  Motion carried.  Brad Wolf made a motion, second by Chuck Richards to redeem the C for $250,000, plus interest int the general checking at maturity on June 30 2021, Motion carried.

Highway maintenance was discussed.  Board considered wedging and gravel work needed. Discussion followed.  Motion was made by Brad Wolf, second by Chuck Richards to gravel 3 miles with a quote of $58,608 from Barron County Highway, as well as wedging work with a quote of $29,700 per mile.  Motion carried.

Board discussed the Town Shop maintenance/repair/painting project.  Chuck Richards presented a id for the painting from Maintain Painting Inc, in the amount of $5,635.00, which includes the roof.  Board viewed the shop and considered the repairs and bids that have been presented.  Motion was made by Chuck Richards, second by Brad Wolf to hire Maintain Painting, Inc. Motion approved.  Board also considered the upgrade of the signage on the shop.  Phil will contact North Country Signs for the project.

Public Comment:  Vaughn DeRosier, from the DeRosier Machines was present to discuss his recent purchase of the property owned by Gil Richards (Two Wheel Heaven) – across from the Town Hall – near ball field.  He discussed possibly adding a loading dock and may need an easement from the Town of Arland.  Board viewed the property.  He will. ring back any needed paperwork to the next meeting.

Clerk Fall gave updates on the following matters:  ARPA grant application, MOU with Barron County for election equipment, Assessors Contract renewal, ISR Garbage Service, subdivision for Rhodes property, and Barron County Emergency Operation Plan.

Bills were presented for review. Motion was made to approve all for payment by Brad Wolf second by Maynard Hoff.  Motion carried.

Next meeting was set for Tuesday, July 143, 2021 at 6:30 PM.

Clerk Fall gave a brief update on the chargeback refund process for Superior Silica Sands tax payments from 2019 and 2020.  More information will b presented at future meetings.
