The Annual Meeting of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff. There were 15 in attendance. Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the 2016 Annual Meeting. Motion to approve as presented by Brad Wolf, second by Stephanie Roberts. Motion carried.
The 2016 Annual Report was also presented by Clerk Fall. Discussion followed. Motion was made by Vickie Bown, second by Robert Nelson to accept the report as presented. Motion carried.
Motion was made to approve the Sterling Bank as the Working Bank for the Town of Arland by Robert Nelson, second by Brad Wolf. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Stephanie Roberts, second by Cindi Nelson to authorize Jodene Nelson and Pamela Fall as representatives for the Town of Arland for purposes to conduct financial investments or open accounts with the Sterling Bank. Motion carried.
A brief update was given by Robert Nelson on activity at the Almena Fire Dept. The proposed ordinance discussed at the 2016 annual meeting had been dropped. More information will be available after the Fire Department has their Annual Meeting on April 24, 2017.
Phil Hoff gave an update on equipment and highway maintenance. The 2017 Road Plan was reviewed. Discussion followed, with questions from the residents present.
Superior Silica Sands representative Sharon Masek, gave a detailed report with a power point. She reviewed the work being done in the mines in Arland Township and projections for the coming year. She answered questions. Sharon continues to make monthly updates at the regular Town meetings.
The Annual Meeting for 2018 will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of April.
Motion was made by Wolf, second by Hoff to adjourn. Motion carried.
