The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff, with all board members present.  Minutes of the previous meeting were presented, followed by a motion to approve by Robert Nelson, second by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.  Jodene Nelson Treasurer, gave the financial update, followed by a motion to accept as presented by Nelson, second by Wolf.  Motion carried.  She noted that she had received a partial payment of delinquent personal property tax from Tim Vilz.  She will continue to send billings to him.

The financial records were reviewed by the audit committee.  Records were found to be in order and were singed by board members.

Highway maintenance update was given by Phil Hoff, noting highway work scheduled in 2017.  Board discussed placing an ad in the News Shield for blacktopping bids.  This ad will be run for two weeks and bids will be opened at the next monthly regular meeting.  Discussion followed on purchasing a new chain saw.  Motion by Hoff, second by Wolf to approve purchase.  Motion carried.

Sharon Masek from Superior Silica Sands gave her update on the current mining operations in our area.   SSS is considering mining under the water table in some mines in Arland.  She discussed how the procedure would be authorized.  More information will be presented at future meetings.  She also reviewed the lead/arsenic testing tables.

No public comment.

Bills were presented for payment.  Motion to approve all for payment was made by Nelson, second by Wolf.  Motion carried.

Next meetings scheduled:  Regular meeting – April 18, 2017 at 7:30 PM, followed by the Annual meeting at 8:00 PM.
