The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff. All board members were in attendance. Minutes of the previous meetings were presented by Clerk Fall, followed by a motion to approve all as presented by Brad Wolf, second by Robert Nelson. Motion carried. Treasurer, Jodene Nelson presented the financial update, followed by a motion to accept by Wolf, second by Maynard Hoff. Motion Carried. Jodene also discussed unpaid personal property taxes from 2014, and 2015 for Tim Vilz. She also pointed out that our Machinery Fund CD for $200,000. will be due in late January. Jodene is preparing to send out the tax statements and has the informational letter ready to include in that mailing. Consensus from the board to allow Clerk Fall and Treasurer, Jodene Nelson to invest in another Machinery Fund at Sterling Bank before the end of the year. Investment amoont maybe $300,000 or more as they see appropriate.
Highway maintenance was discussed by the board in the absence of Patrol Operator, Phil Hoff. Updates were given on the heating system for the shop, equipment, sewer tank replacement and pressure tank needed at the shop. Robert discussed the potential of purchasing a skid steer. Quotes and recommendations will be brought to the January meeting. Board will also conduct Phil Hoff’s annual performance review at the January meeting in closed session.
Superior Silica Sands rep, Sharon Masek discussed the current mining operations at the 3 plants Given the cold weather, washing has stopped. Hauling will continue through the winter, as SSS has significant orders for the sand. She also gave an update on their new product.
Next meeting is scheduled for January 12, 2017 – Caucus will be at 7:00 PM and regular meeting to follow at 7:30 PM.

Bills were presented for payment. Motion by Brad Wolf, second by Robert Nelson to approve all for payment, including a check to Barron Co Highway Dept as partial payment for $200,000 in lieu of work that has been completed, but not yet billed. Motion carried.
