The Board of the Town of Arland met in regular session on June 14, 2016 at 7:00 PM. All board members were present. Minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Clerk Fall, with a motion to approve by Brad Wolf and a second by Maynard Hoff. Motion carried. Treasurer Jodene Nelson presented the financial update, with a motion to accept by Hoff and a second by Wolf. Motion carried.
Discussion followed regarding the renewal of two bank CDs – each with a principal balance of $200,000. They will be maturing on June 29, 2016. Motion by Hoff, second by Wolf to renew one CD into another six-month term and redeem the second CD – $200,000 plus interest into the town’s general checking account. Motion carried.
Highway maintenance report was given by Phil Hoff, noting the work currently being done. Brad Dostal from Fahrner was present to discuss a proposal on crack sealing. Discussion followed regarding a new process. He provided a quote of $69,121.50 for work to be done on an approximate 2-mile project. Motion to accept the bid for work to be done in 2017, was me by Robert Nelson, with a second by Wolf. Motion carried. Chairman Hoff signed the contracts. Crack sealing to be done this year was quoted at $7,998.75. Motion to approve by Wolf, second by Nelson. Motion carried. Chairman Hoff signed the contract.
Superior Silica Sands report was given by Clyde, noting that FLS plant will start washing on June 15th. Reclamation is being completed to the north east of that property. SSS new product is selling well. Sand sales in general are very slow.
There were no other reports, No public comment. No correspondence. Bills were reviewed for payment. Motion to approve all for payment by Wolf, second by Nelson. Motion carried.
Next meeting is scheduled for July 19, 2016 at 7:30 PM at the hall.
