The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. All board members were present.
Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the June meeting. Motion was made by Brad Wolf to approve, second from Chuck Richards. Motion carried. Treasurer, Jodene Nelson presented the financial update. Jodene noted a current balance in the general checking account of $487,271.27, which includes a recently matured CD, Highway Aids and royalty from Superior Silica Sands. Motion was made to accept by Maynard Hoff, second by Brad Wolf. Motion carried. Jodene also noted that a new savings account was established with the first half of ARPA funds received — $39,669.59. A separate account was recommended by the State for reporting purposes.
Enid Jackson was present to discuss the ongoing issue with fence repair between her property and Prinsens. Board discussed possible action and interest in how other townships are handling these types of issues. Chuck offered to look into securing another repair b business. No other formal action was taken.
Board was introduced to Duana Bremer with the Salvation Army. She is the current Director for the Family House located at 1150-1152 12th St –Barron, WI, This is a social service program that will provide emergency and transitional housing for up to 34 people. They hope to be open by October. Requested a letter of acknowledgement and support from the Town of Arland. This will be addressed at the next meeting.
Phil gave an update on the painting project with the Town Shop. Harry Joles – Maintain Painting contract was approved and will be starting soon on the painting work. He also discussed highway maintenance that he has ben doing.
No public comment. a request was presented from Jalyne Tabor regarding clarification on ATV travel on town roads.
Brad reported that the lights at the ball field are now unhooked. Wires will be taken down as well.
Bills were presented for payment. Discussion followed. Town will wait until August to make the large payment to Superior Silica Sands for the court ordered tax refund. Motion was made by Brad Wolf, second y Chuck Richards to apron all other bills for payment. Motion carried.
Next meeting was set for Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 6:30 PM. No other correspondence was presented.
