1506-June09,2015

The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman Maynard Hoff at 8 PM on Tuesday, June 09, 2015.  All board members were present as well as nine other residents or guests.  Minutes of the previous meeting were presented by Clerk Fall, with a motion to approve by Robert Nelson and second by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.  Treasurer Jodene Nelson gave the financial update with a motion to accept by Wolf/Nelson.  Motion carried.  Balance in general account is $427,150.08 with two CDs maturing at the end of the month.  Consensus by the board was to renew for three months.

Highway update was given by Phil Hoff, noting the work he has been doing with mowing and other maintenance.  Culverts are in on 10-1/2 Ave.

Sharon Masek gave an update from Superior Silica Sands.  She discussed the market slowdown of sand orders, but reported that work goes on.  They have put the first layer of blacktop on 8th Ave.  Also, some maintenance on 7th St – concrete.  We discussed Jim Walker’s retirement and the invitation was made for the open house at the Arland dry plant on June 25th.

Public Comment:  Stacy Toews and family were present to discuss their concerns over how close the road construction is to their house.  Board suggested that they would have to replicas omega continue to work with the County.  Brad Wolf made a comment on behalf of Jeff Jackson, regarding what he felt was encroachment on his property by the sand company (A-1).  Sharon said she would contact him.

Board of review reminder for Thursday, June 11, 2015 – open book from 5 – 7 PM and BOR from 7 – 9 PM.

Bills were presented for payment, with a motion to approve by Hoff/Nelson.  Motion carried.

Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 2105 at 8 PM.

Suggestion was made to contact Doug Clausen regarding window treatments at the hall.
