The regular meeting of the Board of the Town of Arland was called to order by Chairman, Maynard Hoff on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 6:35 PM, with all board members present.

Clerk Fall presented the minutes of the previous meeting.  Discussion followed, motion was made to approve by Brad Wolf, second by Chuck Richards.  Motion carried.

Treasurer, Jodene Nelson, presented the financial update.  She noted a current balance in the general checking account of $366,105,92, CDs totaling approximately $513,600 and ARPA savings balance of $79,410.42. Motion to accept the report was made by Chuck Richards, second by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.  Jodene also discussed the tax letter. No changes were recommended.

Tom Rich, the Administrator for the Prairie Farm School Dist, was present to discuss the upcoming referendum that the PF School Dist will have on the November 8, 2022 ballot. He gave background and explanation to the work that needs to be done on school property and operations. This non-reacurring referendum will support those needs.  Board members and visitors were allowed to ask questions.

Phil Hoff gave a highway maintenance update, noting the crack sealing being done and other work as scheduled.

Brief Family House report was given.

No public comment given.

Bills were presented for review and payment.  Discussion followed.  Motion to approve all for payment was made by Brad Wolf, second by Chuck Richards.  Motion carried.

The new assessor contract for 2023-2024-2025 was presented.  Discussion followed. Board had been notified that Bob Irwin was retiring.  He has turned his business over to his daughter – Natalie.  She owns the Tamarack Springs Assessing LLC from Phillips, WI.  Motion to approve the new contract was made by Chuck Richards, second by Brad Wolf.  Motion carried.

Building Inspector, Scott Schieffelbien is continuing to do the work for the Town of Arland along with the support from his wife who is also certified inspector.

Next meeting was set for Tuesday, November 15, 2022.  The regular meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by the Budget Hearing and Special Meeting to set the levy.
